These V8 cards (range 8-12-16) are ideal as a second stage of filtration. After the first filtration with coarser grade cards (0-4), the V8 layers retain smaller particles, giving the wine a beautiful shine and clarity, perfectly preparing it for a potential third aging pass.
Complete guide to filtration grades:
- 0-4: First pass - removes large suspended particles after fermentation
- 8-12-16: Second pass - retains small particles and gives shine to the wine (your card falls into this category)
- 20-24: Third pass - removes micro-impurities for a final polishing (to be used only after filtration with V8)
