Purpose
This bag filter is ideal for removing suspended substances that make liquids cloudy, making it perfect for:
- Filtering very cloudy or fermenting wines
- Treating fermentation lees
- Filtering musts, beers, and vegetable oils
- Clarifying other food liquids
How It Works
Filtration occurs by natural drop, thanks to the passage of must or wine through the cotton canvas. The bag is suspended via a suitable net equipped with upper rings, which facilitates filtering and keeps the filter in an optimal position.
Usage Instructions
- Soak the filter in a solution of warm water, citric acid (about 20 g/liter), and potassium metabisulfite (about 3 g/liter) for one hour
- Thoroughly rinse the still damp filter
- Internally sprinkle it with diatomaceous earth, forming a thickness of about 2 millimeters
- Mix diatomaceous earth with wine (about 100-500 g/hectoliter)
- Pour the mixture into the suspended filter
- Wait for natural drop filtration

Before use, immerse the filter in a solution of water and potassium metabisulfite (3 g/liter). Never use scented detergents for rinsing or cleaning the filter. This precaution is essential to avoid altering the taste of the wine.
