Your ally for traditional distillation
The copper still is the ideal tool for those who want to try their hand at artisanal distillation. With a capacity of 5 liters, it is perfect for producing at home:
- Distillates from wine: cognac, armagnac, pisco, and brandy
- Grappa from pomace (grape skins and seeds)
- Grape brandy from must
- Calvados from cider
- Rum and cachaça from sugar cane
- Whisky, gin, and white spirits from cereals
- Distillates from roots, tubers, and various fruits
Why choose copper? Exclusive advantages
Our stills are entirely made of copper and handcrafted to ensure you the best quality at the best price. Copper is not a random choice:
- Beneficial chemical reaction: The sulfur compounds present in the pomace chemically bond with copper, improving the quality of the distillate
- Excellent thermal conductor: It distributes heat evenly across the entire surface, preventing burns of the mass to be distilled. It melts at 1083°C, so it does not fear high temperatures or thermal fluctuations
- Maximum resistance: Copper perfectly resists alcoholic vapors, acids from pomace and fruit, without corrosion
- Purity of flavor: Does not impart any metallic taste and naturally neutralizes unpleasant odors and flavors
How the distillation process works
The still consists of a boiler (which houses the pomace), a hermetic cap from which a tube called "swan neck" exits. The vapors rise through this tube until they reach a water-cooled coil, where they condense and return to liquid, generating your distillate.
The three phases of traditional distillation
The boiling point of ethyl alcohol (78.4°C) is fundamental for the discontinuous process:
- Head (initial vapors): Up to 78.4°C, methanol, acetaldehyde, and ethyl acetate develop, easily recognizable by their unpleasant odor. This fraction is toxic and must be discarded immediately (methanol can cause severe damage to the optic nerve leading to blindness)
- Heart (78.4°C - 100°C): This is the valuable part of the distillate, rich in ethyl alcohol and volatile substances that provide aroma and flavor
- Tail (above 100°C): Not dangerous to health but contains impurities and fusel oils with unpleasant taste and odor
Simple and safe infusions
If you prefer to avoid legal complications, you can create extraordinary infusions starting from bottled grappa or alcohol for liqueurs: nocino, honey grappa, blueberry grappa, and much more, with total freedom.
Important information
- Attention: The still does not have a built-in thermometer, so it requires constant attention during use
- Initial cleaning: It is essential to perform a first cleaning distillation to eliminate impurities and unwanted substances from copper, especially after long periods of inactivity
- Capacity: 5.00 liters
Your payment information is processed securely. We do not store credit card details nor do we have access to your card information.
