A worn flexible shaft not only results in a loss of performance: it often introduces micro-tears in the rotation, which translates into more pronounced vibrations on the shaft and a less predictable behavior of the cutting element, especially during restarts and speed changes. In these conditions, even if the bevel gear is still in order, it works worse because it receives a rotation that is not perfectly continuous. The complete version is also useful from a preventive perspective: when intervening on the cutting head or if overheating/noise in the transmission has already been detected, changing the entire assembly reduces the possibility that a worn terminal or a "loose" internal guide nullifies the work. Essentially, with a new and well-centered flexible shaft, the rotation becomes more uniform and reduces stress on bearings, gears, and shaft supports.
