In these conditions, even if the bevel gear is still in order, it works worse because it receives a rotation that is not perfectly continuous. The complete version is also useful from a preventive perspective: when intervening on the cutting head or if overheating/noise has already been detected in the transmission, replacing the entire assembly reduces the possibility that a worn terminal or a "loose" internal guide will nullify the work. In practice, with a new and well-centered flexible shaft, the rotation becomes more uniform and stress on bearings, gears, and shaft supports is reduced.
